Four eccentric Broadway stars are in desperate need of a new stage. So when they hear that trouble is brewing around a small-town prom, they know that it’s time to put a spotlight on the issue…and themselves. The town’s parents want to keep the high school dance on the straight and narrow—but when one student just wants to bring her girlfriend to prom, the entire town has a date with destiny. On a mission to transform lives, Broadway’s brassiest join forces with a courageous girl and the town’s citizens and the result is love that brings them all together. Winner of the Drama Desk Award for Best Musical, THE PROM expertly captures all the humor and heart of a classic musical comedy with a message that resonates with audiences now more than ever. Please prepare 32 bars of a song of your choice in a comparable musical style to this show. An accompanist will be provided; bring your own clearly marked sheet music. Please also bring with you a headshot and resume if possible or prepare to fill out forms. Video submissions accepted but in-person auditions are encouraged. Callbacks will be held, by invitation only, on Sunday, June 11. 5-10 PM Auditioners should be 14-24 years old. This is an intensive, professional-level camp style program which requires daytime availability. Absences due to vacation and other conflicts are expected but must be approved. Rehearsals take place in Bristol on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-4, with a 1 hour lunch break. Actors will be notified in advance of call time and are not expected at rehearsal unless called. Actors are always welcome at rehearsal regardless of the daily call. Understudies and swings are expected to attend. Proposed daily schedule: 9-11 Script work and blocking 11-12 Choreography I 12-1 Lunch 1-2 Choreography II 2-4 Vocals There is an $80 tuition fee which is divided into 4 payments of $20. |
